Free places to park up in your campervan in The Lake District

It's no surprise that we absolutely LOVE The Lake District, I mean it matches the Bambs & Beau brand to a tee!

As we have a campervan it makes travelling around and being spontaneous very easy and we had to share these hidden gem park ups with you.

For climbing Helvellyn
Helvellyn has been on our list to hike for a long time so when we drove past this park-up it was a no brainer (coordinates 54.552195,-2.948750). Situated on the edge of Ullswater Lake a short walk from Glenridding. There is space for about 9 vans, its a bit noisy but not too bad.
There is s small pebble beach opposite the park up where we enjoyed an alfresco breakfast. It would also be a great place to launch a canoe or paddle board. Here is the gorgeous view from the van and an early coffee

We ended up staying here for two nights and climbed Helvellyn from this carpark starting super early in the morning. The hike ended up being 19km and of course our Bambs & Beau products came with us. Our super soft beanie was needed at the top in the snow.

Glenridding it's self is a beautiful town with a couple of pubs, small convenience stores and gift shops. There are also public toilets you can use.

For climbing Haystacks
This was such a good find to climb Wainrights favourite Haystacks, Gategarth car park. Okay, so it's technically not free but it costs only £4 for 24 hours.
There is also a little snack hut and we enjoyed an icecream.
There is no signal whatsoever at this carpark so make sure you have downloaded the walking route in advance.
There is a beautiful little stream and we had a delicious dinner by the van.
